Happy Pig- Not So Happy

These are a few of my favorite things:

Puffs Plus Lotion- Try them, you will never go back to kleenex! Your nose with thank you!

NeilMed Sinus Rinse- You've never experienced anything quite like this.

Essential. Don't leave home without taking it.

Makes any time a good time. If you catch my drift...

You can never get too much vitamin C!

And of course, some mates of state to sing my soul:

Being sick isn't so bad when you have all your favorite things!!!

lessons for life

Today my roommate learned something really important.

< cabbage

     does not equal

   lettuce >

And in honor of this mistake I wrote this haiku:

when you go to smiths
if you don't know the difference
read the sign above

*this is not to make my roommate feel dumb. merely to avoid further confusion : ]

The Pig of Happiness

So tell the truth, when you saw that the name of this blog was "the happy pig" what did you really think? Did you think, "I wonder if this girl has a pig nose, or maybe shes just really overweight. Or maybe she has a weird obsession with pigs. Or maybe she has a killer snort." Well, just so you know, none of these are true. The real reason behind the title of my blog is a very influential book that was given to me when I was 15 or 16 by one of the best friends a girl could have. Namely Rachel Moyes. This book is entitled "The Pig of Happiness". It changed my life. Let it change yours.

I thought I had it all together.

"I am now quite cured of seeking pleasure in society, be it country or town. A sensible man ought to find sufficient company in himself"

-Emily Bronte

This quote has recently found new meaning in my life. If you enjoy spending time with yourself, then no matter what you are doing or who you are with, you should be able to enjoy that time! It doesn't mean that you have to only spend time with yourself. It just means that WHEN you are alone, you should be able to have fun by yourself.

Anyway, on a completely different note, I recently have been addicted to this song. Enjoy!!

whatever it is.

It is really easy for me to get excited about new things that I want to achieve
such as...

becoming a ballerina

becoming a rock star musician

becoming a runner

becoming a stronger LDS member

becoming even more of a computer geek

 becoming a cyclist

 becoming more cultured

becoming the kind of person who ONLY eats nutrient rich food

These are the things that bring joy into my life. Among many others.

Don't feel ashamed by the things you enjoy or the goals you want to set. You don't need approval from others. You don't need to like or do the things everyone else does. If what you do brings you happiness and makes you more of the person you want to be, that is reason enough to do it.

Just do it. Whatever it is.

just two wheels

This picture was taken about two years ago, and now, at the age of 19, I finally found the joy that is riding a bicycle. What a great feeling it is to have the wind in your hair, the breeze on your face, and speed on your side! Who would ever go back to walking everywhere once they get the thrill of riding their bike around town feeling unstoppable. No one. And certainly not me.

Many people have tried to teach me before, but until three weeks ago, I did not have the rudimentary skill of riding a bike. My family went on bike rides together all the time, but since I was very young, my parents did me a service by just getting an attachable seat that sat on my mom's bicycle. So while my family learned the ways of the pedals and wheels, I was just along for the ride. The last time I fit in that seat was probably around the age of 5. When the time came that I would have ownership of a bike, you can imagine my excitement! The first thing I did on my bike was go to the grocery store, Smiths. It was a trip out of necessity. My sister Emily said it was only a 7 minute ride. So off we went with our empty backpacks, and my fearful spirit. I learned on the roads of Provo, dodging cars and traffic laws from the start. So naturally while my friends like to go on the sidewalk, I abstain and stay in my comfort zone on the roads amongst the other wheeled forms of transportation.

I have been converted to the lifestyle that is owning a bike. I ride my bike to work, I ride my bike to the doctors, I ride my bike to my friends, shoot, I would ride my bike to church.

My two wheels can take me anywhere.

why a blog?

Reasons to start a blog:
1. I don't adequately write in my journal
2. I want to document my life through thoughts and pictures
3. I want to share said things with the world
4. Blogs are cool, I guess
5. I spend too much time on a computer not to have one

So I've decided to try this whole thing out, and see how it goes. I'm not going to promise that I will blog everyday, or that anyone who reads this will be inspired to do or say anything. I only promise to give this a shot and hope for the best.

Here we go!!
